There are more than 400 different kinds of bacteria that live in our gastrointestinal tract. Like most things in life, balance is the key and the bacteria in the colon is no different. The flora in a healthy colon should consist of at least 85 percent lactobacilli ("friendly") and 15 percent coliform bacteria. The body depends on the "friendly" bacteria to assist in the digestion of proteins, to manufacture B vitamins, as well as to produce lactase and other antibacterial substances. Acidophilus, another type of friendly bacteria which has antifungal properties, helps to reduce blood cholesterol levels, aids in digestion, and enhances the absorption of nutrients. An imbalance of bacteria in the colon (which is now considered typical due to the use of preservatives, additives, high fat diets, alcohol, birth control pills and stress) can result in gas, bloating, intestinal and systemic toxicity, and constipation. Antibiotic drugs are especially harmful to intestinal flora and it's effects can last weeks after the drug is discontinued; often leading to yeast overgrowth, chronic infections, poor digestion, fatigue or allergies.
How do we know our intestinal tract is out of balance? Aside from the the obvious signs (such as gas and bloating), you may be surprised to learn that the exterior of the body reflects the state of one's colon. Poor skin like acne, dull hair, lackluster eyes, and excessive wrinkles, are all subtle signs that our intestinal flora need friendly bacteria. When the gastrointestinal tract is corrected with a proper balance of bacteria, the entire exterior of the body virtually glows with good health. If you consistently find yourself wihth a "bug" or the flu, you might consider balancing your bacteria. The friendly intestinal bacteria are your first line of defense against disease; when they are weakened the immune system has to pick up the slack.
How can we restore proper balance? Lactobacillus Acidophilus can be used to help re-etablish the normal consistency of bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestines) and vagina. Växa's multi-dimensional complex formula, Reflora+ contains 10 different beneficial bacteria designed to: destroy putrefactive bacteria (bad bacteria) within the lower tract; remove toxins from the lower tract; normalize intestinal pH; repair damage to the digestive tract; and manufacture B vitamins and enzymes.
NOTE: If you are taking the following Växa formulas: ClearIn, Digestin, Candid-Free, the Oral Chelation Health Pac, Colon-Aid+, or Parasitin, then Reflora+ would be an excellent add-on for additional nutritional support.
